Visiting a new church can be intimidating when you don’t know what you’re walking into. You can browse this section to learn more about who we are, and what we do so that you feel as welcome as possible as a visitor.
We would like to make it as easy as possible for new folks to feel at home at Friendly Hills. We are an accepting and relaxed community that invites people of all worship backgrounds to attend our services. In addition to a weekly worship service that includes singing and a sermon, we also offer Sunday school and other ways to engage with the church. We offer the following every Sunday:
WORSHIP SERVICE – 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.
Our worship service is a time to gather and worship the Creator and Redeemer of God’s people. This time includes singing, prayer and a message from one of our pastors. Based on Reformed traditions, our messages are taken from the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original historical and grammatical context and are explained so that we can learn how God’s Word applies to our daily lives now, in the present. Our music reaches across the generations and you can dress according to your preferences.
ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIP (ABF’s) – 9:15 -10:15 a.m.
This is a time where we go deeper into the scriptures for study. Our ABF’s are Sunday School with a time for prayer and fellowship. The intention is to gather to study God’s word in community while building community. ABF topics vary from studying a particular book in Scripture, to study Scriptural themes related to things like marriage, parenting, and work.
FOR STUDENTS: There are also Sunday School classes for students of all ages.
Pre-K (4 & 5 years old), Kindergarten – 1st Grade, 2nd – 3rd Grade, 4th – 5th Grade , Middle School & High School
We have care for children from infants through 3 years old during the ABF and Worship times.
Children who are 4 years old through 1st grade are dismissed to Children’s Church after most of the worship songs before the message. At this time, they are taught an age appropriate Bible lesson by volunteer leaders in the education building. All of our volunteers have submitted and cleared background checks.
WHAT KIND OF WORSHIP MUSIC DO YOU HAVE?
We have “inter-generational worship.” We love the new songs of today and the timeless hymns of yesterday. Commonly we will play the hymns with a more modern instrumentation. Our goal is always to give God alone the glory!
DO VISITORS HAVE TO STAND UP AND GET RECOGNIZED?
No visitor is singled out as a visitor where you are asked to stand and we shine a spotlight on you. Each week we try to have a greeting time where our entire congregation stands and greets one another before our call to worship.
